A ledger, not a notebook

Everything is stored as pours, not totals. That one decision means you can edit any entry ever, and the whole bottle recalculates instantly. The apps that came before this got that wrong, and it is why they break.

What is an infinity bottle?
An ongoing personal whiskey blend. You pour in a little from bottles you love, pour out a glass now and then, and the bottle never empties. How do I start one?
A clean 750ml decanter, 2 to 4 ounces each from two or three whiskeys you genuinely like, and a record of what went in. The record is the whole game, and it is what the app does automatically, including the proof math. How to start this weekend →
How do you calculate the proof of a blend?
Multiply each whiskey's volume by its proof, add them up, and divide by total volume. 4 oz of 90 proof plus 2 oz of 125 proof lands at 101.7. The calculator above runs it live, and the app does it on every pour before you commit. The math, fully explained →
Can I edit a past entry, or do I have to start over?
Edit anything, ever. The app stores your bottle as a ledger of pours rather than a running total, so changing entry 12 simply recalculates 13 onward. The older apps in this category store the total and mutate it, which is why fixing a mistake there means deleting everything after it, and why they slow down and crash past 150 entries. This one does not.
What does "Ship of Theseus" mean here?
The old thought experiment: if you replace every plank of a ship, is it the same ship? Your bottle lives that question. The meter shows what percentage of each original pour still physically remains, correct even across splits and merges. When nothing of the first pour is left, the app marks the day. Does whiskey go bad or oxidize in an infinity bottle?
Whiskey does not age in glass, but a bottle with lots of air space does slowly change character, usually softening. An infinity bottle handles this better than most open bottles because you keep topping it up, which keeps the air gap small. Keep it out of sunlight and away from heat. What actually happens inside →
What whiskeys should go in, and what should stay out?
House rules vary, and that is the fun. Common ones: nothing you would not drink on its own, nothing heavily peated unless the whole bottle is going that way, and pour in the good stuff, not the dregs you are trying to get rid of. Can I give some of my bottle to a friend?
Yes, and the data goes with it. Gift 4 ounces and the app generates a code carrying the blend, the proof, and the full lineage. Your friend starts their bottle from your pour, both bottles diverge from that day, and the family tree is recorded. It is the best housewarming gift in whiskey.
What is a whiskey thief?
The copper tube distillers use to pull a sample straight from a barrel. You cover the vent with your thumb, lift, and release the pour into a glass. It is the taking tool, the blend is the making, and the app is named for both halves of the ritual. More on the thief →
Does the app collect my data? Why no accounts?
No. Your bottle lives on your phone: no signup, no analytics, no servers of ours holding anything. There is nothing to log into because there is nothing watching. You can export your entire history as JSON at any time, because it is yours.
When does it launch, and is Android coming?
iOS first, soon. Android is on the roadmap, and the engine is built cross-platform on purpose.
